Define

‍

Inspired by the story and visual design of “The Little Prince,” we wanted to incorporate something similar in our daily lives. The project addresses the challenge of sustaining journaling habits by offering a calming, aesthetically pleasing digital experience to inspire joy and motivation.

Ideate

‍

We developed user flow charts and user stories to map out how we anticipate users will interact with our design. These tools helped us visualize the entire user journey, from their first interaction with the app to completing their goals. This approach allowed us to refine features and design elements to align with real user behaviours, creating a more engaging and satisfying experience.

Prototype/refine

‍

During the prototyping stage, we developed initial drafts for both mobile and desktop platforms, which served as the foundation for refining our concepts and visualizing cross-device functionality. In a weekly team meeting, we conducted a collaborative design review to evaluate strengths, identify areas for improvement, and gather feedback. This iterative process allowed us to refine the prototype in alignment with our vision and user needs.

Following this, we transitioned to wireframing for a second draft, adopting a more deliberate approach to better meet user expectations and project goals. Tasks were divided among the team to enhance efficiency: some focused on refining the app's structure and functionality through wireframing, while others worked on mood boards to establish the aesthetic tone and designed the logo to define the app’s branding.

Final design

‍

After refining the drafts with minor adjustments, we finalized the design, now available in both light and dark modes.

The final iteration incorporates subtle moon and star motifs inspired by The Little Prince, blending elegance with modernity for a fresh yet timeless aesthetic.

We enhanced the mood selection feature, expanding from three roses to five, and used these consistently throughout the design to create a cohesive and unified visual identity. This addition not only added charm but also strengthened the thematic connection.

To ensure seamless implementation, we collaborated closely with developers to refine the login and sign-up pages. Based on their input, we adjusted formatting to maintain both technical feasibility and visual appeal.
